Spring Cleaning Part 2

spring cleanig

I have tossed  all my store bought cleaners since I have been using essential oils.  Not only do the oils smell great and clean and disinfect, they save me money too!  I am here to tell ya, they are a miracle in a bottle as far as I am concerned. Now for 10 of my favorite things to do with the oils!!

1.  Disinfecting Spray

  • Mix 6 drops Lemon Oil in with 1-2 oz water in a glass bottle.
  • Shake and spray on countertops, cutting boards, mirrors, windows, or any surface.  This will leave your surfaces sparkling clean and smelling great too

2.  Wood Floor Cleaner

  • 1 gallon of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons liquid castile soap
  • 15 drops of citrus oils (Lemon, Wild Orange, or oil of your choice)
  • Mix in a bucket and mop.
  • No rinsing needed

3.  Wood and Furniture Polish

  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of vinegar
  • 10 drops of Wild Orange or Lemon Essential Oil
  • Mix in an 8 oz  glass spray bottle
  • Shake well before each use.
  • Apply to a microfiber cloth and wipe wood surfaces clean.

4.  Sink or Tub Cleaner

  • Wet the sink
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of baking soda (more if a kitchen sink or tub)
  • Add 2 drops lemon essential oil
  • Scrub with damp rag or sponge

5.  Dryer Sheets

  • Put Purify, Elevation, Lavender,  Serentiy or another favorite oil on a wet rag and place in the dryer with your wet clothes.  Helps with static and makes your clothes smell fresh and clean.

6.  Wash Aid

  • Put a few drops of Purify essential oil in your washing machine with your clothes to make your clothes smell fresh and clean.

7.  Air Freshener

Ingredients

  • 1 small Mason jar with a lid and band
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 5-6 drops of your favorite essential oil
  • Hammer
  • Small screwdriver or nail

Directions

  1.  Put 1/4 cup baking soda into your small Mason jar.
  2. Add 5-6 drops of your favorite dōTERRA essential oil or blend. Recommended Essential Oils: Balance, Cassia, Geranium, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon, On Guard, Purify, or Wild Orange.
  3. Put the lid on top of the Mason jar and seal it tight with the band.
  4. Take your hammer and nail and punch small holes in the top. Add some style by drawing a design onto a piece of paper and then securing the design on top of the lid with a strong tape around the edges and poking holes along the pattern.
  5.  You’re done! Just place the jar in an area you would like to keep smelling fresh. This could include: the bathroom, near a garbage can, in your closet, near your dirty clothes, etc. Shake the jar often to activate the fresh scent. If the scent starts to fade, simply add 2-3 more drops of essential oil into the jar. –

8.  Toothbrush Sanitizer

  • Place your toothbrush in a cup of clean water with 4 drops On Guard
  •  Let set for 5-10 minutes.

9.  Dish Soap

  • 2 cups unscented castile soap
  • 20 drops Lime essential oil
  • 8 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 6 drops Citrus Bliss essential oil

Directions:

  1.  Fill a large, clean bottle with castle soap.
  2. Add essential oils. Shake bottle before each use.
  3.   You’re done! Just add 1-2 tablespoons to dish water for use.

10. Stove Top Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • ¼ cup table salt
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4–5 drops of Purify Cleansing Blend

Spring Cleaning With Essential Oils

spring clean

Well, spring is right around the corner. Time to think about Spring Cleaning! One of our favorite things to do! Right!! Well,  I have  always loved spring and the weather it brings; and as much as I dread it I do love the smell and look my house has with a good old fashioned spring cleaning. One of the many things I love about using doTERRA  essential oils is the ability to use natural products to clean my home. I am going to share a few tips and DIY items for your consideration over the next several days. Happy Cleaning!

Did you know that Americans spend over 5 billion dollars a year on cleaning products, with the average household spending close to $700 dollars a year on just cleaning supplies alone. According to this Web MD article http://www.webmd.com/health-ehome-9/green-cleaning “These products [antibacterials and harsh cleansers] don’t work any better than their natural or non-toxic counterparts, and they damage the environment and potentially place our long-term health at risk.”

To make your household safer, get rid of the risk of household cleansers by making your own  at home. They are affordable, easy to make , eco-friendly, and just as effective (if not more) than store bought cleaners. Make sure to check back over the next few days for more ways to make your own cleaning supplies at home and get some tips for cleaning with oils.

Soft Scrub for Bath, Tile, and Toilet

Make this in small batches and store in an airtight container. This recipe  is enough for two to four applications. This soft scrub is excellent for getting rid of soap scum, removing stains, and brightening your tile and toilet. To use, just apply and let it sit for 5-10 minutes and then scrub. Once done scrubbing, take a wet cloth and wipe clean.

What you Need:

  • 3/4 rounded cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup liquid castile soap ***
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 5-10 drops dōTERRA Lemon essential oil

***Liquid castile soap is a vegetable-based soap commonly found in health food stores and I get mine at Target. Dr. Bronner’s is a popular one. Look for unscented. This scrub is also great to use to help clean your kitchen sink, refrigerator, or tile floor .

I am going to end this day one of Spring Cleaning with a microwave cleaning tip. This will be your AFTER picture.

MIcrowave

STEAM CLEANING YOUR MICROWAVE

This microwave trick is noting short of amazing. You are not going to believe how well it works! Basically, it  simply steams up the microwave, loosens up the yuckiness and makes it extremely  easy to wipe down.  TRY IT!!  You will be amazed.  I simply can not stand a dirty microwave, so I do this often! I just like the smell it gives the kitchen too. So, here ya go.

  1. Fill a microwave safe bowl with water.
  2. Add 4 to 5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil (Or Citrus Bliss)
  3. Microwave for 5 or so minutes.
  4. Wipe your microwave down with a clean cloth

Not only is your microwave steam cleaned, it smells GREAT too.

Happy Oiling and let me know how these work for you.

But, I am here to tell you all about the benefits of Deep Blue! Deep Blue is a go to product here. My husband keeps this in his truck and in his golf bag. He swears by it!! However, I am going to issue a word of WARNING! Deep Blue eases discomfort of sore muscles and is amazing. However, it is like other blends you put on sore muscles and you need to wash your hands immediately after use prior to your hand touching any other part of your body. My husband, Jeff, decided to use some on his knee that was causing him great pain. BUT, he for some strange reason, decide to take a shower immediately after rubbing this on his knee. In just a few moments I heard sounds coming out of the shower that did not resemble human speech. I went running into the bathroom and he was moving and levitating in ways no 56 year old man should or can move. Turns out he DID NOT wash his hands first, had grabbed the soap and was soaping up all his “manly parts”. Now, I wish I could tell you I helped him, but I was far to busy laughing till I cried. After a few moments all was well, but, he will never do that again. He is a walking (or floating PSA) to never forget to wash your hands after using Deep Blue.

SO, in all seriousness, here is some information on Deep Blue

Deep Blue is a proprietary blend  that works together to provide instant relief for tired, sore  muscles and joints.  The properties of the oils bring cooling relief to areas of discomfort.  Just two or three drops of this amazing blend of oils — or a small dab of Deep Blue Lotion is all you need to energize your daily work out or simply restore ease to your daily routine.

Recent studies indicate that more than half of us suffer from on-going discomfort, ON A DAILY BASIS.  But, mother nature has some of the most natural products that can safely and effectively use to soothe achy muscles and joints and they offer penetrating and sustained relief from this discomfort.

What Oils Are Used In Deep Blue?

Deep Blue Rub from doTERRA  db

Several powerfully soothing oils make up this  blend. These oils include:

Wintergeen
Camphor
Peppermint
Blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum)
Blue chamomile
Helichrysum and
Osmanthus.

Simply apply two to three drops of Deep Blue oil or lotion directly to areas of discomfort. Its cooling  benefit will be felt almost immediately.

With close to 5 mL of dōTERRA’s top-selling Deep Blue oil blend in each tube, it is an essential addition to your bathroom cabinet, gym bag or first aid kit. We have them in all of those places. I gave some to my parent’s and my aunt. I have some of the sample packets that I give out all the time. Everyone I have given these too all in love with this product.

Deep Blue Rub is blended in a base of moisturizing emollients that  will leave your skin feeling soft, not greasy and is the choice of many massage therapists and sports practitioners.

I suggest you get some of this for your home. You will not regret it. Just remember my husband’s Public Service Announcement 😉 Let me help you get this free during the month of March.

Happy Oiling,

Essentially Nanna
